WALT DISNEY’S FIRST MICKEY MOUSE ANIMATOR UB IWERKS TRIPLE SELF PORTRAIT PRINT!
For That Special Disney History Collector!
You Are Bidding Bidding On A Special Self Portrait Print Originally Drawn By Ub Iwerks
Disney Legend Ub Iwerks is most-often known as the animator who worked directly with Walt Disney and first animated Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse in the “Silly Symphony” Series.
Ub Iwerks was so much more than just that! Ub was considered by many to be Walt disney’s oldest friend, and spent most of his career with him. First, working with Walt to create the earliest Disney Laugh-O-Gram Cartoons which went bankrupt. Ub, however, followed Walt’s move to Los Angeles to work on a new series of cartoons know as “The Alice Comedies” and "Oswald The Lucky Rabbit”. Finally, a character called, “Mickey Mouse” in 1928.
The first few Mickey Mouse and Silly Symphonies cartoons were animated almost entirely by Iwerks. Ub felt he wasn’t getting the credit he deserved and eventually, Iwerks and Disney had a falling out. In 1930, Ub opened his own studio named The Iwerks Studio. Iwerks created “Flip the Frog” at his new studio when Ub drew this self-portrait with Flip the Frog for a newspaper article.
In 1993, we were able to host Ub Iwerks son, David Iwerks, to speak at a Disneyana Collector’s Convention at the Disneyland Hotel. After the convention, David Iwerks sent this self-portrait print of Ub, drawn by Ub, along with both Mickey Mouse and Flip the Frog.
The winning bidder of this ebay auction will not only receive the Self-portrait Print but also the original corresponding 1993 hand written letter from David Iwerks on Iwerksfilm Inc. letterhead. The Ub Iwerks sketch print measures 8 1/2” x 11” and so does the hand written letter.
    - PLEASE NOTE - The Self-portrait Print & the hand written letter from David Iwerks are the only items that you are bidding on in this ebay listing. The other photographs and the “Walt Disney’s Ultimate Inventor” Book are provided for illustrative purposes only and not a part of this sale!
