    Description

    Very nice authentic chess set from Ukraine, former USSR. Unusual compact chess board, folding into a box for chess. Doesn not have the closing hook, just a little nail left. Inside has a very faint stamp. I can decipher "pervyi sort" meaning first quality, some triangular stamps, and a date 2.IV...2. So is it 1952, 1962, 72, etc.? It's a nice board. Can benefit from some cleaning and oiling but I am no wood expert so don't want to ruin anything. The figures are wood. All present. The horses are made like from a different material, see pictures. Black horses have uneven ears. Very nice set. The board is 11 5/8" x 11 5/8" x 7/8" open, 11 5/8 x 5.75 x almost 1 7/8" closed. It has like inlaid stripe around on the side, see pictures. The largest figure is 2.5" high. All figures have their fabric bases.
