Vintage Knubbel Chess Set from Denmark in Beautiful Dovetail Box.
2.375” kings with 1.15” base. Pictured on 1.5" squares (board not included). This antique Red and White knubbel set from Denmark is filled with character. Analysis chessmen from Denmark.
2 red pawns appear to be replacements (with other knubbel pawns!) 1 white knight seems to have had a broken snout at some point. See pictures.
These knubbel sets are super rare and very cool.
The ‘knubble’ chessmen (German; ‘knobs’ or ‘knobbled’) are a very popular analysis set and a one-time favourite of the great Danish grandmaster, Bent Larsen (1935-2010).
