    HERSHEY CHOCOLATE FACTORY
I think that these are the absolutely
    COOLEST
    pieces that I have
    EVER
    had, and Super
    RARE
    !
A couple of years ago, we had the opportunity to work on a once in a lifetime salvaging job at the legendary HERSHEY Chocolate Factory in Hersey, PA. I was granted access before they closed the old factory to make room for the new state of the art factory. We were fortunate enough to recover many items from the Chocolate factory, ranging from new old stock, signs, machinery, parts and other collectible ephemera. It's been an honor to play a part in the preservation of the heritage of such a prestigious historic American manufacturing icon.
I can remember as a child going to this place for a tour and the air was SOOOOOOOOOO overwhelming from the scent of Cocoa that I actually got SICK. Of course, at my young age, I had no idea .............. nor did I care ............... that the awesome rollers that you are looking at were the reason for the smell.
What you are looking at are parts of a circa 1915 CHOCOLATE CONCHE. I had never heard of one either so, a chocolate conche is a huge steel or iron tub about 10 X 12 feet with a corrugated granite bottom and a group of these granite rollers with a matching corrugated profile. Hundreds of pounds of Cocoa beans would be dumped into the Conche and these rollers would break the hard outer shell of the bean and begin the process of making CHOCOLATE! Too Cool!
    MEASURMENTS
The setup you are purchasing consist of two granite cradles, and one super cool double granite roller. The foot print of the cradles measures 76" x 24". The height from the base of the cradles to the top of the roller measure approx. 32". The steel that holds the rollers is slightly wider than the cradle at 29". The rollers themselves are made of machined gray Granite. They, the granite roller itself, measure 22 1/2" long and are approximately 11 1/2" in diameter, they vary. The granite roller attach's to a U shaped bracket and then 2 of the rollers with U bracket attach to a cast iron Yoke on top. All told, each cradle and roller set up weighs approx 1650 lbs.

These granite have a ton of patina and character, these rollers are not perfect,(Please look at the example picture.)
They all have there share of war wounds, small chips, rust stains and marks
. But that's what makes them special, over 100 years of chocolate making. In addition, The rollers were each made with a flat spot on them so that they will actually rest without rolling freely. This makes them IDEAL for a table bases, garden art, museums, and landscaping! All the ones I have are similar in looks and patina, as you can see in the pictures I have a stack of cradles and a load of rollers,
You will recieve a set, probably not the exact one pictured but near identical, These are far to heavy for us to be trying to hand pick anything in particular. The rollers and bases have variations in the granite, and the rollers vary in size slightly, as do the grooves in the cradles and rollers, some are more pronounced then others and some are a little more worn then others but, all in all they all look similar to the one pictured.
This is the frist time I've offered this exact setup on Ebay, I sold out of some of the other setups I had, and as HOT as this stuff is right now, I don't really expect them to last long. DON'T MISS OUT! If you're interested in the rollers by themselves check out my stores for a few different double roller setups I have.

    About Us
Md Architectural Rescue is a different type of recycling company. We have operated in
    Baltimore
and surrounding areas since 1996. After starting out rescuing fireplace mantles and cast iron door locks from construction dumpsters, we have opened our eyes to may types of waste that are often over looked and fall through the cracks. Our focus is and always will be vintage items of the highest quality. But with our eyes now open we put a lot of effort in bringing you high end collectibles from every industry available and at a very reasonable price. All our items are salvaged and are for the most part American Made. One week we could be in an old School, Brewery, Factory, and the following week at a  Shipyard or Power plant, you just never know. Also, one day we may be removing Vintage lighting, the next day Signs and Vintage blueprints and the following day cleaning out a machine shop or high end parts room. We literally have NO idea what we have coming around corner, so make sure you add us to your favorites and check back often.
