Vintage Chinese Chess Set
Vintage Chinese chess set with inlaid, hand carved tile and hand carved soapstone pieces, folds away into carved wood carrying case with brass handles. This is a very intricate chess set made with great craftsmanship. The board itself is made with alternating square inlaid tiles. The white squares each have a different carved and painted picture (repeated only once on each side, so each player sees unique motifs). The tiled board is incased by a solid wood boarder, engraved with dragons and flying creatures from Chinese folklore. The board folds at the center via brass hardware and converts into a carry-able case with brass handles....perfect for travel and storage!  The chess pieces in this set are hand carved in highly ornate and figural traditional forms from soapstone. Condition: The tile, wood, brass, and chess pieces are all in good vintage condition. The hardware such as the hinges and handles are in vintage working condition.
