Vintage ANRI TORIART ITALY CHARLEMAGNE CHESS PIECES IN BOX

Description

Vintage 32 piece set - ANRI TORIART ITALY "CHARLEMAGNE" CHESS PIECES IN BOX.  Excellent condition; no flaws noted.  One corner of box is split.  The king is 3 1/2" tall and the pawn is 2 3/8" tall; bases are 1 1/16".
The Anri Charlemagne chess sets were produced between 1968 and 1980 and are a cast composite material invented by Anri called “Sculptite"
which is a mix of saw dust and resin.
The castings are mounted atop turned wooden bases with blue felt bottoms.
This was designed to remember "Charlemagne" 768-814, widely recognized as the greatest Christian monarch who unified most of Western Europe under the "Carolingian Empire" also called the "Father of Europe", a very important king. The chessmen are beautifully crafted with fine detail and hand painted with vibrant color.
These chessmen are among the most copied Anri designs. Anri chessmen are 100% made in Italy for those who can appreciate the true value of these magnificent artistic chessmen.
