Description
For your consideration is a vintage 1970's Soviet Latvian Tournament Chess Set with folding storage board. This set is similar to one of the chess sets shown in the Queen's Gambit Movie Series. The 32 piece set is in very good condition with minor finish wear. Pieces are NOT WEIGHTED, typical for the Soviet Latvian sets. Piece bottoms are covered with thin white cloth. The white King is missing its cloth bottom and its black finial top has a chip to its tip. Kings measure 3 3/4" in height with a diameter base just over 1 1/4". Pawns approx. 1 7/8"" in height. The folding storage wood board with 1 3/4" squares is in good condition with some light scratches and nicks. But its metal latches are missing. See pictures. Its been said that the Latvian sets were a favorite of former World Champion Mikhail Tal. A great set for tournament, blitz or home play and a nice collectible set to add to one's collection. for Priority mail shipping. EACH PIECE WILL BE INDIVIDUAALLY WRAPPED FOR ADDED PROTECTION DURING SHIPPING. No International shipping. See my other listings for more quality collectible Staunton sets including Soviet sets. Thanks for looking.
