Description

A fabulous quality antique Edwardian period stickpin brooch, set with a stunning silver-blue natural moonstone heart surrounded by a halo of glistening rose-cut diamonds.
Made of solid 15 carat gold topped with silver, it sits in its original box in equally good condition. The moonstone reflects strong silvers and turquoise blues and shows some dreamy adularescence - the quality unique to moonstones that shows their internal light travel across within the stone like the moon across the sky.
My favourite aspect of this piece is the thickness of the moonstone, creating a strong magnifying effect and making the strong reflective flashes of adularescence from the stone visible from some quite oblique angles! Coupled with the lovely deep basket setting underneath the stones - typically overbuilt for quality antique pieces - make for an item that oozes luxury!
It dates from around 1900/10 and is in excellent, fully wearable condition throughout, with no loss or damage. The faint line visible across the moonstone is a natural inclusion, not a crack. It weighs 2.6 grams unboxed and measures 2.5 inches long overall, the heart being 14 x 12 mm.
