Queen's Gambit! Vintage Hand Carved MEXICAN BONE Pulpit CHESS Set w/ Board 50's
Early Mexican folk art chess set, more commonly known as a
Mexican Bone Pulpit Style Chess Set.
This is an early set, believed mid 20th century, and is in remarkable condition for its age.  It is truly a
work of art and would make a marvelous addition to any collection or home decor.
The set is comprised of 32 exceptionally intricate hand carved, turned, and pierced pieces.
It comes as shown with a handmade folding wood chess board.
So many wonderful details about this exquisitely made set:
Rendered in cow bone with natural imperfections in bone, carvings and craftsmanship.
Unique figures include rare pawns with hand in knife
The white pieces are a fine unpainted bone color, with a rich patina that further enhances the detailing
The dark pieces feature hand painted black matté surfaces which are in very good condition with no signs of wear to the paint.
Excellent Condition: Some minor wear to board surface. Two of the knights need their heads reattached- some signs of glue from previous repair visible on a few other pieces.
