LLADRO PORCELAIN CHESSMEN (6) - RARE 1972-1985 KING 7" #4833
Note this is 6 chessmen. Can be used as replacements now or extras for the future.
These extraordinary collectible chess pieces were made by the world famous Lladró (the premier manufacturer of ceramic figurines). Their hard-paste porcelain pieces are so exquisite that their manufacturing ingredients are kept under closely guarded lock and key. The Lladró museum in New York and the formation of the Collector's Society is a testament to the popularity of their artistic collectibles. Their two chess sets #6333 (released in 1996) and #4833 (retired in 1985) and among their most renowned and well received creations to the world of utility.
This is #4833 which came out in 1972 and retired in 1985. It represents King Richard's Court.
They are modeled after Richard the Lionheart. Richard I was King of England from 1189 until his death on April 6, 1199. He also ruled as Duke of Normandy.
This version is becoming more rare as time goes by.
5 chessmen are stamped with the Lladró logo and 1 is not.
King approximately 7" with 2 3/8" base
Pawn approximately 5 1/4" with 1 13/16" base
Chessmen are in excellent condition with no damage (no chips, no marks, no scratches, no cracks, no repairs).
