    From the operational report for September 1.9.1943.
    - the successes of the Red Army in Romania (south-west of the city of Constanta took several settlements). On August 31, 30 German ones and 18 enemy aircraft were destroyed on all fronts.
    - In southern France, about 55 miles south of Lyon, American troops occupied Valence. Yesterday, fighters raided the Regin airfield in Romania. Destroyed the ground 60 enemy aircraft.
    - Canadian forces occupied Dieppe in France without a fight
    - Allied forces occupied the fortress and city of Verdun, located 26 miles south of the Belgian border.
