Description
Presented is a wonderful quality porcelain figurine of a lady sitting at anembroidery table (or similar), dating to the early to mid 1800s. This piece is
likely of French make, though it could also be English or otherwise European.
The woman is depicted in a bonnet tied on with ribbon, seated on a flowery
knoll. The figurine is very well done, and the woman, her clothing, and the
chair and table are all wonderfully detailed and hand painted in vivid colors,
with plentiful gilt detailing.
This piece is signed on the bottom of the back side with a pseudomark in red,
one that looks like the Crown Derby mark but with the initials LME around the
crossed batons.
This piece is in great overall condition. The table is missing five of the
little 'hooks' or knobs extending from the legs/side, but this is not easy to
notice. A few very minor losses to the petals on the flowers, almost
unnoticeable unless you are inspecting very carefully. There are no other breaks
and no repairs, a rarity on this type of piece.
The figurine measures about 7 x 5 x 6 5/8 inches, LxWxH.
