G834: Stunning, Rare, Thuringer Frogs Chess set.
Downsizing my collection. Thuringen Factory, Germany. Design by Albert Stahl. One side brown frogs the other green. Kings with crowns riding on turtles; Queens with crowns Squatting; Bishops with arms out-raised in mitre shape; Knight as frogs with clubs; Rooks as turrets with tiny frogs and pawns tiny frogs with clubs. All marked with blue factory trademark on the underside. Beautifully painted, gold accented. With "airbrush" effects reflecting the ultimate in porcelain painting. According to sources, Circa 1960. Rare. Pristine condition. Available. Ref Christies Catalog Sep 20, 2006 lot 121.
