Custom Built (by SSX Field Coil Audio Products) BFC 104 SSX Field Coil Audio Products 15" High Power 3-Way Reference Studio Full Range Driver Replacement for Altec 604 Applications.
These custom built speakers were original priced at 10K per pair.
Less than 40 were produced between the years 2007 and 2010.
This speaker uses a unique 4" HF driver portion to produce explosive transients equivalent to much larger horn systems. A new radian 16-ohm diaphragm is included as most originals used the Truextent beryllium diaphragm which makes an outstanding sounding upgrade!
The popular wood horn was designed by the late Dr. Bruce Edgar and has a "tractix" expansion for very smooth transition of highs to the LF cone portion.
The cutoff frequency of the horn is 540 Hz so any crossover point between 800 and 1200 Hz is satisfactory.
This is a PROTOYPE from the original production run in 2007 and had been stored since that time. Please see other listings for a near exact mate.
