    Description

    This vintage, extraordinarily detailed Asian travel chess set reflects exceptional craftsmanship and beautiful Asian art. The 32-piece set comes in two colors of soapstone - 16 light green pieces and 16 darker reddish-brown pieces. All pieces retire from battle into cloth-lined drawers that fit into the sides of the folding chess board. The entire set folds in half with two felt-lined storage drawers (one on each side) with elastic straps to help secure the pieces. The board itself has black and white tiles with stunningly detailed Chinese images and characters. The wood also has carvings of “Chinese New Year styled” dragons and brass pulls/hinges that work smoothly. This is a beautiful piece of art regardless of one’s ability to master the game.
    Measurements: Board measures 18" by 18" when open, Pieces measure between 2" and 3.75" tall.
    Condition: Very good condition considering its vintage nature and years of use. As seen in the photos, the wood, pieces, and board have normal wear and the elastic bands in the drawers are a little loose. In sum, they have been well protected and are in good shape.
