    Description

EXTREMELY Rare Find!  This is an antique model steam engine boiler or salesman sample of one.  It is heavy as it weighs 24 pounds.  It appears to be very old.  It has a burner in the bottom.  The water pump reads PMR on one side and MADE IN USA on the other side.  The little brass oiler reads 500 DETROIT LUBRICATOR CO.  the overall height including the wooden base to the top of the stack is 19 1/2 inches.  The boiler itself is 11 inches long and 5 1/2 inches wide.  The small steam pressure gauge on the back reads STUART and goes up to 150.
Please look closely at the photos as this is exactly what you will be buying.  I have no idea if this boiler will work, so it is as-is, no returns.  If anyone has anymore information about this particular live steam boiler, please let me know.  I cannot locate another like it for comparison.  It would be great for display in a model or toy collection as a museum piece or anyone who collects steam boilers, models and toys etc.
No reserve, very low starting bid, and only for shipping and insurance in the USA.  Good luck bidders!
UPDATES:  I have received the following information from a couple of Ebay users and have added it to the listing.  See below:
you did ask for further information - the following are a few comments for your consideration - I have built and repaired more than a few model steam engine kits.
This appears to be a homemade boiler assembly -which someone invested a fair amount of time & effort to assemble. However, this assembly is certainly not entirely a Stuart boiler, although it does have a Stuart steam pressure gauge and perhaps a few other Stuart parts.
The burner assembly is odd and might be troublesome. The feedwater pump marked "PMR" .is not old - these are available brand new for about from PM Research.
To run any model steam engine pressure boiler, the boilers (also valves, gauges and pressure relief) should first be pressure tested. I sure would not volunteer to pressure test this assembly.
Another Ebay user sent the following information:
This is not a salesman sample, this is a home-built large boiler, and the maker has made use of a variety of parts, including a Stuart pressure gauge, and a PM Research feed pump (both companies still in business making model steam equipment). The boiler itself cannot be a Stuart as Stuart does not make boilers that large. It appears to be very well-made with a very robust burner system and other nice details. The only problem is that it is entirely untested, and is really almost too large for model steam engines - large enough to be potentially dangerous if it failed under high pressure. If it was properly tested it would be far easier to sell.
Thank you to the Ebay user for the information.  I have started the bidding very low.  This item is as-is, no guarantees, no returns.  You are buying what you see.  Good luck bidders!
