1945 Vintage Fort Belvoir Virginia VA License Plate Tag Gate entry

Small tag from FT Belvoir to be attached to license plate for entry at gate  Rare hard to find.  Measures 3 x 1-1/2 inches.  Expired over 3 years.
I received the following info:
The
actual Ft. Belvoir license plates in the 40s (about 11" W x 4" H.) were mounted above the state plate. They were normally issued each year but this policy was halted in 1943 to conserve steel for the war effort. Instead, Ft Belvoir (and many other bases) issued the small tags (such as the one in your listing) which were then attached to the corner of the older 1942 plates. To the best of my knowledge this continued from 1943 thru 1946. The attached photo shows a 1944 VA plate (made of soybean fiber) with the Ft Belvoir 1942 base plate and the 1944 tag.  45
was the year. I believe they were issued only for '44, "45 & '46. Note: The tags had to attached to 1943 Belvoir plate to permit entrance to the base.
