    SS REPUBLIC SHIPWRECK
    CERAMIC INKWELL & DISPLAY BOX
    In 1865 the sidewheel steamship SS Republic was on route to New Orleans with a treasure trove of gold, silver and trade supplies to help rebuild the war torn South after the Civil War. Tragically the ship was overcome by a hurricane off the coast of Georgia and sank to the bottom of the ocean where it rested untouched for 139 years until its discovery in 2004. This ceramic inkwell was recovered from that ship. An outstanding historical artifact for any collection.
