Even the gilding on the pin is even intact.  The enamel work is detailed, well done and in excellent vintage condition.  This Victorian piece is engraved on the back with the name "Anna T. Spears". She was a teacher for the Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton, Missouri, in the 19th century.  See Histories of American Schools for the Deaf, 1817-1893, Volume 3, By Volta Bureau (U.S.), Edward Allen Fay.  It is rare to have the entire name of either the portrait subject.
